Hi Fam, My mother, Gary Jones (1920-2013) is the daughter of Mary Ann Cole (1894-1931), daughter of Almeda Arela Cole (1859-1928), daughter of John (Jack) Cole (1799-1863) [son of John Charles Cole (1760-1816) and Keziah Anderson (1760-1833)] and Eliza Bowman (1842-1927) [daughter of Hawkins Bowman (1790-1870) and Nancy Barbour (1814-1887)]. Mary Ann Cole was separated from her mother, Almeda, but did meet her and her siblings as an adult.  These connections are confirmed via DNA. I hope to attend a reunion and meet everyone some day. Hello family and friends.  Just checking in to let you know that the trial was over by October 9th and all three suspects were found guilty of murder. Each got a life sentence. We are thankful that God provided swift justice for Paul; but saddened that one of the suspects was Paul's school mate and only a year older than Paul when the crime was committed! Four young, black men lost their lives. Gun violence and this black-on-black crime has got to stop! Our prayer is that God will touch the culpits so that they will get to know HIM. We also pray  that God will use them in such a manner that all will see HIS glory. May the memory of Paul, Dannie and other victims stay strong!

Hello family. This note comes to inform you that the murder trial of suspects in Paul Sampleton's death will start on September 15th in Gwinnett County. Thanks for your prayers that justice prevails in a swift manner. Paul was Frank and Alice Mason's great grandchild.

Life is so short. We realize just how short and fragile it is when we someone that we know and love passes. Patricia Edwards Fulmore was my cousin and my friend. May she rest in peace.

Wow!! I really did enjoy looking at all of the pictures. I even saw a picture of Easter Belle Clark and Derek, my son. I doubt if Derek has seen that pictures. This really brings back a lot of wonderful memories in Harlan and all of the Turners, Masons and Clark families that I knew. How wonderful.

 Good Job mother on the site.  I look forward to seeing all of the family again this July.  It\'s great when we can get together on a happy occasion!!!

 Hello Family. I just want to say hello and I am glad and proud that everyone is interested in getting to know your distant cousins, and relatives.I am overseas but if there is any way that I can make this reunion I will. I missed the one last year and it looks like I missed a great celebration. What I\'m trying to say is, if there is any way you are in the U.S. and you can get the time off work to go to this reunion in Harlan you should go! It is inexpensive and, in addition to the hotel & events, you know that Auntie clora will have a big pot of Corn, green beans and some cakes at her house if you can catch a ride there! Hello Family. Happy Holidays!   

This event was amazing!!  Thank you, thank you, family of Aunt Alice, for hosting this family reunion.  It was done extremely well.  The food was excellent, the events were well planned, fun, and informative.  We really enjoyed Macon.  I\'ve been bragging to everyone about my cousin\'s wonderful catering business.  It was so refreshing not to have catered hotel food.  We really appreciated it; especially knowing how much work is involved. 

Aunt Clora\'s family got this all started more than ten years ago.  The first reunion hosted by Aunt Clora\'s family was also excellent and fun.  I learned a lot that time and during this reunion about my family that I never knew. 

Our family has a great deal of talent and we should all be proud.  More importantly, through the two reunions we have experienced acceptance and love of family from people who, in many cases, we have never even met. 

We have to keep this going on a more frequent basis.  We all should think of ways in which we can help ourselves and extended family  members ensure that our children are healthy, happy, and educated. 

We missed those family members who were unable to make it.  We hope you can participate and join us during future reunions.  Family is everything.

Well, it\'s almost time.  We are gearing up for a weekend that we will never forget.  Looks like we will have close to a hundred Whitaker, Mason, Clark\'s  and we are just thrilled to be the host city.  We will have welcome packages for those of you who have pre-registered at the Marriott waiting for you at the front desk and registration packages for those of you who pre-registered for the reunion.  If there are people who still need to register, please do so as soon as possible.  The hotel will allow us free rooms after so many rooms are booked for each night.  So far we have not received any free sleeping rooms, but they are being very generous in working with us so please reserve your room.  They are still honoring the $79 room rate.  Except for snacks and in-between meals your registration fee takes care of all meals except for Sunday morning.  I am working on something with the hotel to try and get a reduced rate for Sunday morning breakfast.  We will, however, have host , hostesses and transportation visable all weekend should you need anything.  We realize that it is a huge sacrifice for many of us to take money from our overloaded budget during these trying times and but trust me, your money will be well spent.  We are prepared to blow you away with all that we have planned for the weekend! 

Some things that you should do to be prepared :

* Bring comfortable clothing.  We will spend   Saturday morning in the park.  There is a shelter outside and air conditioned building for those who prefer that comfort, but we want the kids to exhaust themselves with the activities and stuff themselves with the food and fun. 

*Bring swimsuits.  After the fun at the park, we will return to the hotel for a pool party for the kids (grown ups are welcome to attend as well).  We have junior host and hostesses who will be knowledgeable of the hotel and activities and they are making their own plans for games and (supervised) fun.  They are so excited!

*After just a little bit of rest - depending on the amount of time spent at the pool - you will be transported to the Sports Hall of Fame for the banquet and dance.  There will be time to tour the Hall of Fame during the evening, but the real fun will come in the fun of a nice meal and program.  By this time, we will know each other and it will exciting to learn our family\'s rich history.  The evening will end with our dancing the night away to the beat of music provided by Marvin Johnson!

*Although it is not a must, it would be nice to wear something a little dressy on Saturday night.  We will be taking a lot of pictures and we want to look our very best for generations to come, right?

*On Sunday morning, we would like for everyone to attend a memorial service.  We want to be sure to remember family members who have passed away and we want to send up prayers for all of you to return home safely.



*Let us know what you need.  We may not be able to resolve every problem, but we will do everything that we can to address the issues.  If you\'re flying to Atlanta and need help getting to Macon, just let us know.  We may be able to put you with someone who can pick you up from the airport or give you options, eg. Groome Transportation.

Unfortunately I am out of the country and won\'t be able to attend the reunion. I hate it because there so many good events planned for your enjoyment. It will be well worth your time, travel, and enjoyment.
I hope all of you are going to be able to get as many of your family members to attend as possible.

HELLO FAMILY, this is valeria. It has really been a long time. I am very excited to see everyone. I cant wait for my children (which are grown now) to finally meet there family. We have been blessed. And from the photos i have seen so has my family. I wish i could put into words the excitment my sister and i have about seeing everyone we actually thought everyone forgot about us. my dad will be unable to attend because of his health but we have informed him of everything and he sends smiles(that means he remembers) what we are not sure of but he remembers something. I love you all and will see you soon.!!!!!!!

It\'s always good to read new messages when chcking in on this site.  I just want to mention, that it is a good idea to state your relationship to the family.  We\'ve grown so much and with marriages, offspring, etc. it\'s hard to determine who some of you are.  Refreshing to learn that you are the child, grandson or granddaughter of.....(whomever).  Also, encourage others to visit and sign this Guest Book,, as well.

Our number one problem in planning this reunion is not knowing how many to expect.  We\'re hoping for over 100 adults, but we have no way of knowing unless you inform us of your plans to attend.  We had to have at least 50 to break even on our locations and activities and of course the unknown cost of taking care of the children at no additional cost.  I want to mention, however,  how important it is that the children be included no matter what the cost.  We want to make them proud to be a member of this family and to have memories of reunions when they become parents and, most important, to continue them when we are gone.  I remember reunions (see my note below) from my childhood, but my sons, aged 37 and 27, have never had that opportunity. 

So, let us know your plans to attend, or not,  COMMUNICATE, and get those cars, vans, buses and airline tickets ready!!!

I was just looking through the photo albums and someone posted pictures under Clark with no identification of the people.  Of course, I didn\'t recognize any of them for who they are, but I know that they are family members because they look just like some members of our own family.  Genes are awesome - there is a girl with light hair featured that I did a double take on - she and our Trina, could be sisters!

I was just checking out the entries over the last several weeks.  I am so happy to see so many entries!!!  Of course with such a LARGE family I would always like to see more.  Encourage your siblings, children, and parents to check in.  We have kicked into high gear in our planning efforts and you know head count is extremely important.  We want to show you the best fun of the decade!!!  We realize the economy is terrible this year, but we all should set aside time with our family.  The Georgia clan is very excited to host this affair and we are really looking forward to meeting and socializing with our cousins.   PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE send us your family members\' addresses so that we can make sure that the information gets out to everyone.  Also, we need for you to start sending in your registration information.  Proper planning requires upfront costs and we are starting from scratch.  As the treasurer of the event, a bank account in the name of WMC Family Reunionwill be opened the first of this week and all checks, money orders, and cashiers checks (please don\'t send cash) will be deposited into this account.  A receipt will be sent either by mail or email (your choice).  Questions?  email me at sandibo@cox.net or call 478-390-5249.  Leave a voicemail message if you don\'t get an answer and I will call you back.

EVERYONE, Please gather any pics of your families and scan them & e-mail them to me, OR, go to any photo center in your town and copy the pics, and mail them to me. We are putting together a pictorial video/DVD of the various families to be played at the Saturday Banquet! Please send them by the end of March, or the middle of April, to give me time to enter them, size them, & sort them by families for the video. Especially "old" pics of your parents & grandparents such as the ones we have on this site. Send the names of the people in the pics when possible. Tell whose family line they are in. Start with the grandparents in your family on down the line & if you have a good current studio pic of your immediate family, that would look very good in the video. I promise, you won\'t want to miss having your family in this video! If you can\'t attend the reunion still send in your pics  & they will be included. I will mail pics back to you after I scan them if you can\'t scan them yourselves. I promise. We are looking forward to hosting the 2010 reunion!  Hopefully, this will be the first of many more to come.  One of my oldest memories is of riding on the back of a pick-up, with Aund Hannah standing and laughing out loud, on our way to a park for our reunion.  I think that the reunions stopped after Aunt Hannah passed away.  I also remember Great Grandmonther Whitaker standing in front of her house in the Alley.  Her hair was snow white and straight like silk, her eyes light - either gray or blue and very piercing - and her skin was like gold leather.  I remember her being so quiet and so BEAUTIFUL!  I also remember hours and hours of time with my Aunt Liza.  I loved her so much and I loved watching her cook, especially the potato rolls that I still have not mastered.  Seems that she and Aunt Chloe were always cooking.  I look at the pictures of all of them now and I see Ressie and Ebony, Katrina and Allie, Addie and myself!!!   

I just love this family and can\'t wait to see all of you.  Let\'s make this the best weekend ever!  Our mother, Alice Mason, turns 90 on the 18th of June this year.  Being that it is the weekend following the reunion we invite anyone who can to celebrate her birthday with us on Sunday evening, the 13th.  This event will be separate and hosted by my siblings and myself.  More details to follow.
